Avery von Hoffmann is a 20 year old singer/dancer/songwriter who when asked to describe her style of music, calls it “edgy pop.” Her influences include a wide range of artists from both the present and past, including Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Ciara, Christina Aguilera, Ace of Base, Natalie Merchant, the Cranberries and more. Avery’s wide array of musical inspiration is part of what makes her music so unique.

Avery got her start in music at the age of 7 when she began taking professional vocal lessons. Prior to that, she was always known for putting on shows around the house, singing incessantly, making videos, and even sitting in the living room with her ear pressed against the speakers, listening to music for hours on end. Along with the singing lessons came dancing lessons, which Avery will tell you, were just as significant to her. This still remains true for Avery, as the performance aspect of her music is equally important to her as her writing and recording.

Throughout the rest of her childhood and adolescence, Avery performed in countless school shows and lesson recitals. All the while, she worked hard at perfecting her craft as a vocalist and dancer, knowing that those were the two main tools she would be using in her future as a pop singer.

At 17, Avery finished her first demo CD, which included a cover song and a rough recording of an original song she had written. At that point, Avery didn’t have much of an interest in songwriting, and was mostly unaware of her ability to do so, (the song had been written mostly on a whim).

The demo caught the ear of producer Eran Tabib (Angie Stone, Petey Pablo, Spin Doctors, Kristine W.), who felt that Avery had huge potential as an artist and a possible talent for songwriting. He encouraged her to explore her talent and write more songs. It was then that learning how to play the piano became a huge tool for Avery in her songwriting. Avery spent the next year and a half hard at work in the recording studio writing, recording original music, and finding her own sound, all with the guidance of Tabib.

Currently, Avery has just completed producing four singles from her catalog of songs. Check out the new single “Ride,” Avery’s ‘ready to show you what she can be.” For the latest news on Avery go to www.myspace.com/averyvonhoffmann.
